About Our Project

Byron Youth Theatre’s social-action productions target high school students from year 8 – 12 and it’s award-winning content is developed using research, including surveys, interviews and consultations with professional psychologists, and subject-related local, state and national organisations.  The youth cast members are engaged throughout the entire process from content development to performance which drives high engagement with their high school audiences.

Over the past eleven years this model has proven a huge success with both youth and adult audiences with Northern Rivers schools booking Byron Youth Theatre, annually and sold out community performances. Theatre for young people by young people, using current language, exploring poignant issues utilising dynamic, thought provoking structures and techniques.

The resounding chorus of audience feedback is that ‘Everyone should see this material!’ However, a major challenge Byron Youth Theatre faces in expanding its audience is the limited availability of its youth cast, due to school commitments
